About Guns and Gear Guide

The Guns and Gear Guide project came about as a way for me to share my passion and personal experience with the items that I use on a daily basis. As with many of you, when it comes to acquiring new gear, I like to do my research before spending my hard earned money. My purchases often lean towards quality over quantity. At the same time, just because a piece of gear is expensive, doesn’t always mean that it is worth the extra cost. This website aims to offer an honest look at various pieces of equipment, ranging from firearms and related items such as reloading equipment to every day carry and survival essentials. We are not sponsored by any products or brands and will provide full transparency if this should ever change. If you would like to learn more information about how we support this site financially, please feel free to check out our earnings disclaimer.

I’ll start this off by saying that I am not, nor have I ever been in Law Enforcement, nor do I have any Military background. The reason I bring this up is for one thing to be transparent about who I am, and secondly to attempt to remove certain stigmas around firearm ownership. I’m just an average civilian who happens to believe strongly in the safe and lawful use of firearms. I will continue to advocate for our rights, and for the safe and legal use of all guns. That said, I will try my best to avoid discussing politics on this site. However, there may be the odd rant post, but for the most part, Guns and Gear Guide will not serve as a political forum.

Firearms have always been a big part of my life, ever since I was just a young kid. My Dad introduced me to shooting, and I’ve enjoyed it ever since. Although I have hunted in the past, I can’t claim to be an avid hunter. The truth is, it has been many years since the last time I was out hunting for anything larger than a grouse. I am, however, hoping to change that soon. Lately, my primary focus has been on marksmanship skills. I’m currently working on my long distance game while keeping up with pistol skills. Every so often I like to get out for fun day of sporting clays, mostly to stay humble.

A few years ago, I got into reloading for pistols and found that I enjoy it quite a bit. The learning curve was not all that steep, and there is a lot of information readily available on the subject. It was only recently that I started into reloading for my rifles. One of the topics I’ll cover here on the site is reloading, and all that it entails. I’ll preface this by saying that I am by no means an expert on reloading. I encourage anyone reading this to abide by warnings from the powder manufactures. Please see our disclaimer.
